Health Benefits of Borage

Composition:
Full of mucilage (a substance that becomes viscous in the alimentary canal and facilitates regular bowel movements), the borage contains:
  • vitamins A, C and B
  • mineral salts in high-level (sodium, potassium)
  • tannins
  • resin
  • polyunsaturated fatty acids (gammalinolenic and linoleic)
  • alkaloid
Properties:

  • sudorific
  • diuretic
  • depurative
  • laxative
  • gives smoother skin
Fresh borage can be eaten raw or cooked. But it is its oil that gives best result. Full of polyunsaturated fatty acids, the borage oil is recommended to use internally and externally in case of:
  • irregular or painful periods
  • premenstrual pains
  • eczema
  • skin dryness
  • stretch marks and wrinkles
  • fragile, brittle, dull hair and nails
