Tips To Help You In Your Weight Loss Program

  1. EAT WHAT YOU CAN SEE GROWING: An apple comes from a tree, potatoes and carrots from the earth.... But where are growing hamburgers and pizzas? If you're going to answer in the frozen food department at the supermarket or in the fast food, you will have to revise your weight loss program..Why do you thinks doctors and health magazines keep telling us to eat at least 5 fruits or vegetables per day? Because a fruit or vegetable that hasn't been transformed benefits our body.
  2. WORK FOR YOUR MEAL: nowadays (I sound like my grandmother...), you can go to the supermarket and buy whatever you want for your meal (frozen foods, cans...). To get a healthier and more balanced meal, you'd better save some time to prepare and cook it. When you cook your own meal, you can choose and measure what you are going to eat.
  3. EAT YOUR BREAKFAST IN THE MORNING. Studies show that people who eat their breakfast are less tempted to eat a snack and are less hungry during the rest of the day.
  4. YOUR BODY IS NOT A PANTRY. Even if you've been educated with the idea that you shouldn't leave anything in your plate, you should forget this rule. If you still eat even if you're no more hungry, your body is going to stock this surplus. You don't live anymore in a period where there's regular starvation..If you have leftovers, keep it in the fridge or throw it away (your mom isn't here to check..)
  5. BUY FOOD ONLY WHEN YOU NEED IT and don't buy "junkfood". When you are in front of the TV and you're craving for chocolate, chips, cookies... and have them in your kitchen, it's easy to go to the kitchen, open your packet of "junkfood" and eat the whole packet. But, if you have to put on your clothes, your shoes.. and then have to drive or walk to the supermarket, your natural "laziness" will be stronger than your craving and it's likely that you're going to stay at home in your couch in front of the TV with nothing.
  6. SIT AT A TABLE TO EAT. When you have a quick snack, you tend to eat more fat, drink more sodas and more industrially prepared meals. Anyway, our body absorbs better the vitamins and nutrients from food when we are taking our time to eat.
  7. WHEN YOU ARE HUNGRY BEFORE LUNCH OR DINNER, eat apples, nuts, celery, carrots.. as snacks instead of cookies or chips. The more you chew, the slowlier you eat.. and your stomach will tell your brain that it is satiated.
  8. READ WHAT'S WRITTEN ON YOUR FOOD PACKAGE. The more ingredients it contains, the more converted it is: it would be poor in nutrients and rich in chemical additives.

Tips To Ease Your Heavy Legs

Do you feel that your legs are aching, swollen, tired..?

Here are some tips to ease them:

1)Exercise: swimming, walking, riding a bike.. these are activities that would help the circulation in your leg veins. Take the stairs, not the lift or the escalator.
2)Are you traveling? If you take the plane, get up to walk a little bit. Insufficient leg muscle movement causes the blood to accumulate in your leg veins.
3)Don't stay too long in the sun, avoid waxing: the heat causes the veins to enlarge and blood to pool in your legs.
4)Drink at least 1.5 liters of water per day: it will help the drainage of the tissues
5)Wear ample clothings: forget the garments that tighten your legs, for it restricts blood flow to your legs.
6)Don't stand or sit too long, because these positions contribute to the stagnation of the blood
7)Check your weight: being overweight makes the blood flow to your legs more difficult.
8)Take cold showers: putting your legs under fresh water stimulates the circulation.
9)Massage your legs from your ankle up to your knee.
10) Sleep with your feet elevated (your feet should be above the level of the heart): put a pillow under your legs to ease the tension.

These are some simple tips that you can apply in your everyday life. There are other ways to treat swollen legs and feet like using essential oil massage, cream, phytotherapy, bio-resonance card .. These other measures will be discussed in another post.

If you feel that your legs are still aching and that these measures are insufficient, you should talk to your GP.
